Hi everyone,
Today I finally have my updated review of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation! I've been looking forward to doing this post for weeks and now it is finally here! I'll start by giving a bit of background information on my skin. I have very acne prone, sensitive skin and also suffer from quite a bit of acne scarring. I usually have 2+ active spots on a daily basis, which is a massive improvement on the previous state of my skin. I started getting spots at the age of 13 and it steadily progressed to becoming moderate - severe acne within a few months. Since then I have constantly had spots and scarring, not to mention numerous different antibiotics. I am finally in a position to say, whilst I'm still incredibly self-concious of my skin, I do feel comfortable in it most of the time! So on with the review!
I absolutely love the packaging of this foundation. It's so sleek and also brilliant for dispensing the perfect amount of product. The smell of this foundation is gorgeous and reminds me of the Chanel skincare products. It's a very clean and fresh scent which even my sensitive skin doesn't mind.
This is my skin with nothing on except my moisturiser. As you can see I have some active breakouts, particularly around my chin and jaw area. My scars are slowly fading and with this I am very much enjoying using less heavy duty products. I do have a full coverage routine using a MAC foundation which I love on more spotty days!
These pictures are with just the foundation and no concealer or powder or anything else. I used a pea sized blob on each part of my face to get more coverage without having to put more than one layer on. I never layer my foundation as I find any foundation goes cakey on my skin, I instead use concealer on top. As you can see it covers most of the redness in my skin apart from the odd pesky scar! I applied this foundation with my F60 Sigma brush, working on one part of my face at a time. As I'm sure you have heard you have to thoroughly shake this foundation before you apply it otherwise it will be very watery and separated. The application is absolutely faultless! The foundation spreads around the skin like a creamy moisturiser and on me settles to a slightly dewy finish.
This is the look with concealer in some areas to cover up any prominent scars. This foundation for me does miracles. Even though some scars still show through it manages to totally deflect any unflattering light away from them! It definitely draws attention to the nice, clear skin on your face rather than the flaws. The concealer I use is the Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation. I find this product to be too heavy for all over my face but as a pinpointing concealer it is perfect. I used just under a pea sized amount of concealer.
And finally this is my full face of make-up! I have powdered my skin with Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder and added some Collection (2000) Shimmer Shades blush. I am absolutely thrilled with the final look and considering how my skin looks completely make-up-less the final result is flawless! I put off buying this foundation for so long as I always assumed you had to have perfect skin to start with but I'm happy to report that you don't! This foundation retails for £32 for 30ml of product.
